Psalm 86:11 Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.

God extends His truth and life to us, we need only seek.

Have a blessed day,

Faith Like a Child

Since the birth of our daughter 3 years ago, I have learned innumerable life lessons!  One of the most important and humbling came today on our car ride home.  As we were driving, Daliah was eating a snack I had given her.  She bit her tongue and began to cry.  As I was consoling her, while trying to keep my eyes on the traffic, she simply asked me, “Mama, can you pray for me that my tongue won’t hurt?”  Surprised and caught off guard, I quickly replied, “pray for you?  sure!”  I reached back and placed my hand on her knee and said a quick prayer for healing for her injured tongue.  Then she said something so beautiful, “it still hurts, but Jesus is going to make it feel better.”  It was in that moment that I so clearly saw what kind of faith God has asked of us.  To believe so innocently and whole-heartedly that He will answer our needs, even if it is a “little” thing like a bite on our tongue.  Once we were home, I was relating this story to my husband and Daliah said, “my tongue is all better because of Jesus“.

Today I saw how simple it truly is to believe Him at His Word.  He says that if we ask, we shall receive.  He says that He loves us with a jealous love.  He says that He has a plan for us.  He says that we were fearfully and wonderfully made.  And in this pure moment of words from my daughter’s lips, my eyes were opened to see this in operation.  And, oh, how I was humbled.

Matthew 21:16, “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise.”

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday

When the day comes, let it be more of You and less of me.

Sweet freebies for photo lovers

The other day, i stumbled upon this super sweet website Adobe Exchange. This was not the first time i wandered around the Adobe website, but it was indeed the first time i found out about this section. You can download free actions, filters, or lightroom presets from either their product samples or from other photographers who created their own  original presets and simply wants to share. I spent a few hours, trying out filters that are available for free download (not all of them are free, but there’s a lot to choose from). I tried some of the presets i got when i took a maternity photo session for one of my dear friends. Here’s one example, this one is called Vintage II.

I personally love the result, this is not the only preset i got, there’s much more, but this is my favorite :). i hope this can be helpful for everyone, it’s very late now, time to turn off the computer, sleep and dreams :). Thank you Adobe!

Be Blessed! ~Sisie

Keys to fighting frizz

Frizz can be one of the biggest problems a woman faces when it comes to her hair.  And for those of us that live in a humid climate, this can be even more of a nuisance.  I have put together a few of the most important tips that I have learned to help fight this unwanted foe.

First, be sure that you are using salon-quality products.  This requires that they be purchased in a salon.  I say this because the Redken that you purchase at a drugstore is not the same as the Redken purchased in a salon/spa [you can email me for more detailed information on this point].  Some of my favorite shampoo/conditioners include, but are not limited to: Biolage Rejuvatherapie with Camelina Oil for moisture and Redken’s Real Control for dry hair.  The key to using these is to use shampoo and conditioner.

The next key comes to styling.  Please, please, please use a styling aid!  If you don’t need any hold, then I would use a serum to combat frizz before it happens.  My go-to serum of the moment is Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Nourishing Styling Treatment and it is made with Moroccan Argan Oil so that addresses moisture, frizz, smoothness, elasticity and shine concerns.  I just add a dime-size amount to any other styling aids I am using that day and then massage into the ends of the wet hair first, working toward the scalp.  The beautiful thing about this product is that you can apply it to dry hair as well which is perfect if you have a few problem areas that tend to get frizzy after styling is finished.

The last tip that I find is key is to be sure you are blow-drying your hair properly.  Make sure that when you are using a blow dryer to use one with ionic heat.  Also, do not use a brush until your hair is already at least 70% dry – use your fingers until then.  Once you are using the brush, be sure to blow down the hair shaft as shown in the picture below.

If you blow up the hair, it will cause your hair’s cuticle to “roughen”, thus causing frizz.  I know many of us want added volume at the crown, this can be accomplished by over-directing your brush and blow-drying underneath the section of hair.  Please note that this is to be done once the hair is already dry, so it should not add as much frizz as if done before the hair is dry [and the cuticle is closed].

Feel free to add hairspray and a bit more serum after you have finished the style in order to tame any fly-aways.

I surely hope that this has helped with the frizz that ails you!

I surrender all

Today, I am attempting to accomplish something that I have always struggled with.  As women, I feel that many times we like to be in control of everything and possibly everyone.  It helps us to feel stable and secure to know that we can orchestrate all things.  However, the truth of the matter is that we cannot.  Only God can have complete control.  So, today Lord I give over all my worries and cares to You.  I give You my strength and weakness, my success and failure, my burdens and joys.  Take all and do all as You will.

I place my heart and life in Your most capable hands,

Pita Pizza

This morning i decided to make pizza. I’ve found a few recipes online that inspired me to make pizza without using the good ol’ pizza dough, but using pita bread instead. So, i went to Trader Joe’s and got a few ingredients that i needed.

For the base, i spread olive oil on the pita bread (Make sure you use the actual pita bread, not the sandwich kind) and i sprinkled crushed red pepper to add a little kick (This  is optional). For the toppings i used mushrooms, tomatoes, avocados, fresh basil leaves, and 2-3 different kinds of cheese (I used fresh mozzarella, pepper jack and extra sharp white cheddar), but you can certainly use your favorite kind 🙂

Create the toppings you like, be  creative! Preheat the oven at 375 degrees and bake for 10-12 minutes. I made two kinds, the vegetarian one with fresh avocado on top (Add the avocados once its finished baking) and the other one with cooked, chopped bacon. It’s very easy and yummy!! I hope you will like it as much as i do. Feel free to comment or feedback when you make one

Much love, Sisie
